Internships & Residencies

Green & Away is looking for several passionate and hardworking individuals to help run our sustainable events venue this summer.

We offer two unique pathways – Internships and Residencies. Both provide the chance to learn, grow, and contribute to our vibrant outdoor community and sustainable events venue. Whether you are exploring new skills or developing an existing craft, we have opportunities for you to get involved.

Our programmes are varied and adapted to suit you and your interests. We can offer you a place to learn new skills, meet a range of different people and learn about sustainability, environmental events, and a behind the scenes look at running a charitable organisation and outdoor community.

Our interns and residents are valued members of the crew throughout the summer. We have groups of volunteers staying for different durations, and we need you to be the backbone of the crew, providing ongoing knowledge of the site and undertaking longer term projects. Interns and residents will join the volunteers during the setting up and taking down of the site.

Successful applicants for both pathways should work well as part of a team as well as independently, enjoy taking on new challenges and responsibilities, and have an interest in sustainability, charity work, ecotourism, and outdoor living. You will gain considerable management experience and learn about the challenges involved in sustainable living and environmental education.

Green & Away has hosted interns and residents every summer for around ten years and the feedback we have received has been excellent. Participants have gained life-changing skills with us and have described their time as the best summer of their lives. Green & Away is a unique and magical place, with something for everyone.

Internships

Our internship programme is ideal for those looking to gain new skills, try out different responsibilities, and learn in a real-world, supportive environment. Interns are involved in the day-to-day running of our eco-events site, leading teams of volunteers, and get hands-on experience across several parts of the organisation.

Residencies

Our residency programme is designed for individuals who already have a specific skillset and want the time, space, and support to develop and showcase their craft within a unique environmental setting.

Residencies are more independent, practical, and self-directed than internships, with residents taking the lead on creating, making, building or developing something substantial for the site or organisation.

Not Sure Which Pathway Is Right for You?

We’re very happy to help you decide – just get in touch with our Internship & Residency Program Manager Izzy at: internships@greenandaway.org.

  • If you’re interested in one of our residency areas but don’t yet feel confident leading your own project, please get in touch. We’re happy to offer additional guidance and structure so you feel fully supported in taking on the role.
  • If you have a unique skill that you feel could suit a residency – even if it isn’t listed above – get in touch. We’d love to discuss it with you.

Both pathways are vital to Green & Away and contribute to the learning, creativity, and sustainable practices that make our summer season special.
