The Green & Away Team

Green & Away is managed by a team of 16 trustees including a coordinator. They manage up to 100 volunteers throughout the season to run the project on site. The team’s skills include management, cooking, maintenance, growing, ecology, construction, finance, health & safety, hospitality, and education.

The coordinator:

Daniel Lindeque

Dan (he/him) is Green & Away’s coordinator since March 2022. He is G&A’s principal organiser and oversees all aspects of the project. He joined the board of trustees after being our Technical and Maintenance Intern in 2015. 

He has a background in mechanical engineering, worked in renewable energy generation for a number of years and is now working on various projects across the world.

Dan enjoys volunteering for kitchen shifts and going for early morning river swims during his time at G&A.

Trustees:

Peter Lang

Peter (he/him) is the Chair of the Trustees and the site manager, overseeing our equipment. He was one of our founders and has been involved with the organisation since 1990. He works as a freelance environmental consultant, advising and researching on environmental issues for a wide range of organisations. He is currently the Environment Custodian for Riversimple Ltd, a highly innovative company building a hydrogen car.  One day a week he drives a bus in Bristol.

In the past, he has worked for the European Parliament, the Green Group in the London Assembly, as an adviser to the Deputy Mayor of London, as a trustee of a major public pension fund, and as events organiser for Resurgence & Ecologist Magazine. He has written books on money and the local economy and was formerly a journalist and investigative reporter.

Alice Boudier

Alice (she/her) first came to Green & Away in 2013 as a Concordia volunteer and loved it so much that she has kept coming back every summer, before becoming a trustee in 2022.

After completing a degree in English Language, Literature and History at the University of Paris Diderot, she spent two years working as a manager in a boutique hotel in Brighton before returning to France.

Today she lives in Paris where she works in human resources for the French Ministry of Education and play in a Brazilian music band, using instruments made from recycled objects.

Amelia Wetherly-Ashcroft

Amelia (she/her) first came to Green & Away as a Tech and Maintenance intern in 2023. She studied Sustainability and Environmental Management at the University of Leeds and since graduating has been working as a food bank coordinator at a community project.
 
In her spare time she likes hiking and finding bargains in charity shops. 
 
 
 
Amelie Hünnebeck-Wells

Amelie (she/her) first came to Green and Away as a volunteer in 2012, and following an internship in the Housekeeping and Hospitality (H&H) department joined the trustee body in 2015.

Amelie is our Volunteer Coordinator and is also is the Take-Down Coordinator, overseeing the packing away of Green & Away at the end of the season.

She currently lives in Germany, where she works for the Greifswald Mire Center and lives out her peatbog passions!

BEN Crucefix

Ben (he/him) first started volunteering in 2012 before becoming a trustee in 2018.

A former chef in Spain and the UK, he studied Architecture and put that knowledge to the test by building a tiny house on wheels. Now working in the electrical infrastructure sector, he loves building, fixing, and tinkering year-round—plus growing the flowers that bring G&A to life.

eve andrews

Eve (she/her) first came to Green & Away as the Technical & Maintenance intern in 2018. Eve is a research engineer based in Scotland with a thesis project on Circular Economy for Offshore Windfarms. She spends most of her free time with her hands in soil in the garden or taking a dunk in cold water.

Eve is our Intern Manager, responsible for recruiting volunteers to the programme and supporting them during their summer at G&A. 

GÄelle Berthaud-Müller

Gaëlle (they/them) first came to Green & Away in 2015 as a volunteer and instantly fell in love with the place and community, they have been coming back ever since and became a trustee in 2023.

With a background in computer science, they worked as an IT engineer for a few years and are now focusing on ethics and sustainability of digital services. They also enjoy cooking and picking up new DIY skills.

Isana Barr

Izzy (she/her) first came to Green & Away when attending the Resurgence Summer Camps with her family, before coming as a volunteer in 2017.

She recently graduated with a degree in religion, philosophy and ethics and has a particular interest in environmental ethics and understanding how people’s relationship with the environment affects their attitudes and behaviour.

In her free time, she enjoys surfing and swimming in the sea.

Laura norman

Laura (she/her) came to G&A in 2013 and has found time to volunteer every summer since then. She is working as a conservation trainee with the Wildlife Trust and taking on the Treasurer role for G&A
 
She enjoys a well-earned tea break, bivvy camping and staying up late round the fire pit, and joined as a trustee in 2023.
 
 
 
Lola Henderson

Lola (she/her) first volunteered at eight years old and decided then and there that G&A was her favourite place in the world. Many years later she is now our Kitchen Manager and resident Games Master, bringing lots of fun, food and silliness to the field.

Outside of G&A Lola is an artist, prop maker, scenic painter and craftsman – creating the weird and wonderful on a daily basis! As an environmentally-focused challenge, she is also working on using repurposed, recycled and chemical free art materials.

Robert Kubin

Robert (he/him) first joined G&A in 2023 as an intern focusing on the educational agenda on the site. This experience led him to return the following summer and later take the opportunity to become a trustee in 2024.

He is currently based in Czechia, working as a data analyst for a company specializing in ESG consulting and carbon footprint measurement. Outside of work, he can be found hiking, leading short-term international summer camps across Europe or playing table tennis.

 
RONA HARDIE

Rona (she/her) has been involved in Green & Away since she did an internship in 2018, and has come back every year since.

She works in the climate justice movement as a trainer and organiser at Tipping Point UK and Transition Together, and lives in Bristol where she enjoys foraging, swimming and any opportunity to be outside!

 
Rosa Butler

Rosa (she/her) first came to G&A in 1993 with her family. After returning a few times she was asked to volunteer and progressed from there. She quickly found herself in the kitchen and has spent all the following summers there, fulfilling many roles.

Work at home involves cooking for a small community and teaching line dancing. She is a mature student at the University of Life.

Rosa has a love of gardening and needlecrafts and there is always a project on the go on her hook or needles.

RUTA SULSKIS

Ruta (she/her) first came to Green & Away as an intern in 2024, where she focused on education and skill-swap programme. She fell in love with the community and the outdoor fun the site offered, and joined as a trustee in 2026. 

She enjoys helping the environment and having her hands in the soil. She is also a lover of travelling and exploring, doing yoga and contorting, and baking delicious goods.

Veronica Jinger Xian

Veronica (she/her) first came to G&A as a volunteer in 2023 and followed with an internship

in 2024. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media Design. She enjoys sitting around campfires at night stargazing, walking barefoot in the grass, and documenting her time filming. 

Outside of G&A she loves cycling and solo backpacking.
