Never Camped Before?

If you want to come to one of our events, but have never camped before, fear not! If you go camping at a conventional campsite you need to take a tent, bedding, cooking equipment, lighting and other comforts, and if you haven't put up tents before, they can turn into a writhing monster in a high wind on a dark and rainy night!

At Green & Away we often have people who have never camped before. If you've bought or borrowed a tent, we can help you put it up. If you book one of ours it will be waiting for you, already erected. You don't need to bring stoves, saucepans, kettles or plates, as our bookings include all meals. If the weather is not so good, you're not confined to your small tent, as we have ample comfortable seating spaces. And if you forget your tent pegs, or are missing a tent pole, or need an extra blanket, we can help.

In the millions of years of human existence, the last two centuries have been the only period when people did not at some time in their lives sleep out. It's a sign of our times of how divorced we have become from the natural world, that there are people who have slept in a building every night of their lives. But slowly waking up on a hot morning, as the sun dries the dew, and other friendly sleepy people emerge from their tents is unlike any experience in a city flat. Camping can be uncomfortable, but we don't believe it should be. And if you've never camped before, Green & Away is the best place to start.
