Green & Away Suppliers

Below are links to our excellent Green & Away suppliers (what we buy from them is in brackets):

AT Cooperative provides advice, resources, equipment, transport and training to enable grassroots organisations to put on successful events. The website also has useful information about organising your own events.

Barbourne Cider (cider) is a family run business based in Worcester. They hand pick and press locally grown apples and pears to make a range of premium traditional ciders and perrys.

Day's Cottage (apple juice) make juice with apples from traditional, mature orchards in Gloucestershire. The fruit comes only from unsprayed orchards and dozens of varieties are used, some unique to the county, such as Taynton Codlin, Flower of the West and Underleaves.

Essential Trading Co-operative (wholefoods) is a Bristol worker co-operative established in 1971 which wholesales, manufactures and distributes sustainable organic wholefoods across the UK and beyond.

Festival Wines (wine) specialises in organic and biodynamic wines which taste great and are true to the soil they come from.

The Freeminer Brewery (beer) is the only brewery in the Forest of Dean and provide us with bitter made with traditional floor malted English barley, whole hop flowers of Fuggles and Goldings varieties, bore hole water, and top-fermenting ale yeast.

Kernowrat (waterless toilets). We're finally moving upmarket from our oil drums with holes cut into them to proper dry compost toilets with urine separators. Green & Away will never smell the same again!

Roots at Rushwick (vegetables and groceries) where Will and Meg Edmonds sell produce from their own organic farm and from other local farm.

Skylark Organics (vegetables, salad leaves and fruit) is a Soil Association Certified supplier of organically based in Bromyard in Herefordshire and with a farm at Leominster. THeir Box Scheme delivers in Worcestershire and Herefordshire and across the West Midlands.

Energy 21 is the hub of a national network of grassroots renewable energy groups.

Ecotopia is the green shop based in Stroud from who we buy the mobile phone chargers and dynamo torches that are available at Green and Away each summer. They carry a wide range of interesting and innovative environmental products.

The Ethical Directory provides a screened and categorised list of green and ethical businesses and organisations in the UK.

The Ethical Guide is a directory of websites that are ethically run, sell organic, fairtrade or environmentally friendly products, help spread tolerance, campaign on behalf of marginalised people or generally make a positive impact on our planet.

Friends of the Earth is the largest international network of environmental groups, represented in over 70 countries, and one of the leading environmental pressure groups in the UK.

And a special mention to Dragonsfly, the unofficial Green & Away band. Dragonsfly is an inimitable union of seven acoustic musicians who weave together instruments as diverse as hurdy-gurdy, mandolin, tabla, electric bass and bouzouki. This vibrant and original septet interlace new and old songs, tunes and dance pieces inspired by their personal experiences and musical backgrounds, be it Wales or India, medieval or contemporary folk. The result is a musical landscape of groove driven music that is at once passionate, and high energy yet tender and entrancing. The music celebrates community and the spirit of the land, enchanting the audience to sing, dance and be stirred.
