1st ACT! Alliance Gathering - Mobilising for 2015: 12 - 14 July

This event is about building alliances amongst a range of campaign groups and activists, working on environmental, social, economic and political issues, to build a voter-based movement that pressures candidates standing at the 2015 General Election to back the implementation of broad and deep sustainability measures in the next Parliament.

The week-end will be made up of a series of plenary, break-out and workshop sessions and discussions. The main questions that we are aiming to answer are:

  • 'what works to bring about fundamental political change - and what doesn't?'
  • 'what must we do to build an effective cross-party political movement capable of impacting in 2015?'
  • 'what will persuade mainstream voters that sustainability is better than business as usual?'
  • 'what are the most important policy, tax and spending priorities to campaign for at the next General Election?'
  • 'what do progressive movements have in common, and what are our shared objectives?'
  • 'what will we each commit to in order to build coalitions and an active voters network in every constituency to push our priorities in the run up to 2015 and elect MPs who are committed to the common good?'
  • 'what are the strengths and weaknesses of the political and economic elites that we need to neutralise or exploit?'
  • 'what are our next steps?'.
